Job summary

This is a great opportunity for an experienced audiologist to progress into a more senior role. We are seeking someone who can work in and around the Shrewsbury area, specifically in South Shropshire.

Shropshire Audiology provides services for a population of approximately 500,000 people, with around 60,000 seen annually. Our services include Adult Hearing Aid support, ENT support, Paediatric Audiology, the Shropshire Auditory Implant Service, Hearing Therapy and Rehabilitation clinics, Tinnitus and Hyperacusis management, and Balance assessment.

Our department is IQIPS accredited, emphasizing our commitment to clinical quality. We value staff development and see this Band 6 role as an opportunity for career progression, particularly in developing our complex adult services and increasing clinic responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

  1. Perform routine and non-routine audiological procedures, including managing direct referrals for patients aged 18 and over, and making onward referrals as needed.
  2. Lead in community sites, ideally in South Shropshire, supporting our rural population and acting as an autonomous practitioner linked to local services.
  3. Support multidisciplinary working, including diagnostic support for ENT, social services, volunteer groups, and educational settings.
  4. Fit digital hearing aids and provide counseling and rehabilitation, including developing individual management plans.
  5. Contribute to the development of our complex adult audiology service, engaging in diagnostic testing and in-depth rehabilitation.
  6. Participate in departmental audits and implement improvement actions.
  7. Work autonomously, adhering to best practice guidelines, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and managing caseload effectively.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent
  • RCCP or HPC registration

Desirable:

  • MSc in Audiology or relevant postgraduate credits

  • Experience in complex audiology and mental health awareness
