Job summary

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking a Band 6 Senior Audiologist (0.6 wte) for maternity cover at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals in London. The role focuses on assessment, fitting, verification and adjustment of hearing aids for adults, across Outreach sites at Edgware and Finchley Memorial Hospitals.

You will work three days per week, predominantly with adults, and participate in service improvements, CPD and professional development

Qualifications

• BSc in Audiology or equivalent.
• HCPC or RCCP registration.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Audiology/ Hearing Therapy.
• Experience with CPA/BAHA/BAA knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess, fit, verify and adjust hearing aids for adults.
• Work across Outreach sites (Edgware & Finchley) 3 days a week.
• Provide patient-focused audiology care with a patient-centred approach.
• Participate in clinical audit, service development and CPD.

Band 6 Senior Audiologist (0.6wte) Fixed Term (maternity cover)

The RNENT & ED Hospitals (UCLH) are recruiting a senior audiologist for a fixed term part-time post.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work in the Adult Hearing Aid Department at our Outreach sites of Edgware Community and Finchley Memorial Hospitals for 3 days a week, ideally Tuesday to Thursday. The post consists predominantly of working with adults requiring assessment, fitting, verification and adjustment of hearing aids.

Main duties of the job

You will see a variety of complex and non-complex patients and will be an excellent opportunity for a qualified audiologist wanting to gain further experience in this renowned centre of excellence and gather additional knowledge in the field of rehabilitation.

The department has undergone a lot of change in the last few years and so we are looking for an individual who not only has patient care at the forefront of their mind but is also adaptable and flexible.

You will have a BSc in Audiology or BAAT parts 1&2, BTEC in MPPM & must have voluntary registration with AHCS (formally RCCP).

Person specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Bsc in Clinical Audiology/ Hearing Therapy or equivalent level of knowledge/ expertise in field. CAC or equivalent post graduate experience.
• Registered to practice as an Audiologist/ Clinical Scientist with either Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP).
• Significant post-graduate experience in relevant clinical area
• Evidence of post graduate CPD
• Applied theoretical knowledge of the relevant assessment and therapeutic/rehabilitative procedures for the management of audiological or vestibular conditions in adults and/or children.
• Knowledge of impact of co-morbidities such as global delay or neurological conditions in the management of adults and/or children.
• MSc in Clinical Audiology/ Hearing Therapy or equivalent
• Post graduate management/leadership training or experience as supervisor
• Membership of BAA, BSA

Experience

• Demonstrable experience in the relevant clinical area and evidence of clinical competency with a complex patient caseload.
• Specialist knowledge of routine and non-routine diagnostic / therapeutic audiological assessment procedures, their interpretation and their implications for patient management
• Experience in formulating comprehensive management plans based on case history information and diagnostic test results, where management decisions may or may not be straightforward
• Experience of working with hearing impaired patients / parents / carers and associated professionals
• Evidence of participation in clinical audit, research, and / or presentations at scientific meetings.
