Location: Reading (Multi-Site Leadership Role)
Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 (Depending on Experience)
Contact: Rob Addy, CRA Consulting | 0114 241 8030

Lead from the Front - A Rare Leadership Opportunity for a Senior Conveyancing Professional

CRA Consulting is proud to be working in partnership with a progressive and ambitious regional law firm in the heart of Reading. We are seeking a Senior Associate or Head of Conveyancing who's ready to take ownership of a high-performing team and step into a strategic leadership role across two key office locations.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Residential Property Solicitor, Legal Executive or Licenced Conveyancer to move into a visible leadership position while still maintaining a high-quality personal caseload. You'll enjoy autonomy, support from senior leadership, and the chance to help shape and grow one of the region's most reputable conveyancing departments.

The Role: Strategic, Client-Facing & Impactful

As Head of Conveyancing, you will lead a team of experienced conveyancers and support staff across two offices. You will also manage a diverse, high-quality caseload of property matters - acting as a senior technical advisor and role model within the business.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Running a caseload of freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, including new builds and shared ownership transactions

  • Overseeing operational performance across the conveyancing teams, ensuring compliance with SLAs, KPIs and regulatory standards

  • Acting as the main point of contact for complex matters and high-value clients

  • Leading on file reviews, mentoring junior staff and supporting training and development

  • Driving best practices in risk, compliance and client service delivery

  • Working closely with senior management to shape departmental strategy and innovation

Candidate Profile - Are You Ready to Step Up?

We are looking for a talented and ambitious individual with:

  • 5+ years' experience in residential conveyancing (senior fee earners through to department leads considered)

  • Proven track record handling leasehold, new build, help-to-buy and shared ownership work

  • A leadership mindset - with a genuine interest in coaching, mentoring, and improving systems

  • Strong working knowledge of case management systems and digital workflows

  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain calm under pressure

Whether you're a seasoned team leader or a Senior Associate ready to take that next strategic step, this is a chance to build your legacy within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.

What's On Offer

  • Highly competitive salary from £50,000 to £80,000 (DOE)

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays, increasing with long service

  • Enhanced pension scheme, healthcare cash plan, and death in service cover

  • Genuine progression pathway to director-level opportunities

  • Work/life balance supported through hybrid working and flexible arrangements

  • Staff perks including Costco membership, bonus referrals, and regular social events

  • A modern, collaborative workplace with a strong focus on employee well-being
