Job summary

Clyde & Co’s London office seeks a Senior Associate in the Product Liability team. You will handle complex liability matters across jurisdictions, advising insurers, manufacturers and corporate clients on strategic litigation directions and risk management. The role includes supervising junior lawyers and developing client relationships.

You will contribute to cross-border strategies, manage significant cases, and work with partners to drive the practice forward in a high-profile environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
• Typically 5+ years' PQE or equivalent experience in related disputes work.
• Strong experience in product liability, environmental liability, insurance litigation or commercial disputes.
• Experience handling complex, multi‑jurisdictional matters.
• Excellent legal, analytical and client‑facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of complex product liability and environmental liability claims.
• Advise insurers, manufacturers and corporate clients on liability exposures and litigation strategy.
• Defend high‑value, multi‑party and cross‑jurisdictional claims.
• Handle product safety issues, recalls and regulatory investigations.
• Coordinate global defence strategies with colleagues across jurisdictions.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, expert instructions and settlement documents.
• Support clients through mediation, litigation and ADR processes.

The Team

Clyde & Co's Product Liability team is internationally recognised for its expertise in defending complex, high-value and cross-border liability claims. The team advises insurers, manufacturers, distributors and multinational corporates across a broad range of sectors, handling some of the most significant product and environmental liability matters in the market.

Our lawyers work on complex, cross-jurisdictional disputes involving product safety, recalls, regulatory investigations, environmental incidents and mass tort claims. We are regularly instructed on matters spanning multiple jurisdictions and collaborate closely with Clyde & Co's global network to deliver seamless, strategic advice to clients worldwide. The team is trusted to manage technically challenging and commercially sensitive claims across industries including manufacturing, automotive, life sciences, consumer products, energy and heavy industry.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our market-leading Product Liability team in London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented lawyer with experience in product liability, environmental liability, insurance litigation or commercial disputes to work on high-profile, international matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on complex liability claims and disputes, managing cases across multiple jurisdictions and supporting the continued growth of an expanding practice.

You will work closely with partners and clients on strategic, often business-critical matters, while also taking responsibility for supervising junior lawyers and developing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of complex product liability and environmental liability claims.
• Advising insurers, manufacturers and corporate clients on liability exposures, litigation strategy and risk management.
• Defending high-value, multi-party and cross-jurisdictional claims.
• Handling product safety issues, recalls and regulatory investigations.
• Working with Clyde & Co colleagues across multiple jurisdictions to coordinate global defence strategies.
• Drafting pleadings, witness evidence, expert instructions and settlement documentation.
• Supporting clients through mediation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships through responsive, commercial advice.
• Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the team.
• Contributing to business development initiatives, client training, thought leadership and market engagement activities.

Skills & Experience

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
• Typically, 5+ years' PQE, although candidates with relevant experience outside this range are encouraged to apply.
• Strong experience in product liability, environmental liability, insurance litigation, commercial litigation or related disputes work.
• Experience handling complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
• Excellent legal and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• Confidence managing client relationships and leading matters with appropriate supervision.
• Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers.
• Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
