Senior Associate Masterplanner

Location: Wakefield

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a multidisciplinary firm specializing in architecture, planning, and masterplanning in their search for a Senior Associate Masterplanner. They handle a range of projects from strategic developments to commercial and bespoke initiatives, helping clients realize their ambitions through creative thinking, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of place.

Candidate requirements:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of masterplanning experience in a relevant field.
  • Ability to work at various scales, from high-level masterplans to small interventions, contributing from concept to planning.
  • Strong research skills and ability to gather key site/project information, including political, environmental, social, economic, and spatial factors.
  • Excellent graphical, verbal, and written communication skills for urban design concepts and technical details.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide design input into high-profile projects, including urban extensions, new towns, and regeneration schemes.
  • Lead and manage projects, coordinating team members.
  • Prepare high-quality planning documents such as visions, design and access statements, design codes, feasibility studies, and drawings.
  • Ensure relevant policies and guidance are followed in collaboration with the planning team.
  • Attend site visits and client meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, design teams, and stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in client presentations, explaining urban design concepts and technical inputs.
  • Contribute to practice management, including marketing collateral, presentation images, social media, and website updates.
