Job Description:

Senior Associate Employment Solicitor

Birmingham – £65,000 - £78,000

Senior Associate – Employment Solicitor
Location: Stratford-upon-Avon or Birmingham (Hybrid Working)
PQE: 5+ years

A well-established and progressive regional law firm is seeking a Senior Associate Employment Solicitor to help drive the next stage of growth within its Employment team. With a strong base in both Stratford-upon-Avon and Birmingham, this is a standout opportunity for an experienced and strategically-minded employment lawyer looking to play a key role in a high-performing but close-knit team.

This is a firm where senior lawyers are trusted to lead, shape client relationships, and influence the future of the practice. With the team enjoying its busiest ever period – and an impressive pipeline of high-quality, employer-side advisory work – this appointment comes at a pivotal time.

The Role
  • Broad, predominantly non-contentious advisory workload, with a strong emphasis on preventative strategies and long-term client relationships
  • Around 75% of matters are employer-side, with the remainder focused on senior-level employee advisory
  • Tribunal matters are rare, usually resolved early – the emphasis is on strategic, solutions-driven support
  • You'll work closely with the Head of Employment and existing Associate, offering both senior input and leadership within the team
  • Key Features
  • Hybrid working: typically 3 days in the office, 2 days from home, with Mondays being the team’s regular Stratford day
  • Choice of base office: Stratford-upon-Avon or Birmingham
  • High level of autonomy paired with supportive leadership and peer collaboration
  • A role designed for someone who can take ownership, lead client work, and support business development
  • Genuinely flexible, modern culture with no rigid billing targets – the focus is on sustainable, profitable growth
  • Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, with 5+ years’ PQE in employment law
  • Strong background in advisory work, ideally with a clear employer-side focus
  • Comfortable acting as a senior point of contact for clients and providing strategic guidance
  • Confident in managing and mentoring junior team members
  • Proven ability – or appetite – to contribute to business development and grow the team’s market presence
  • What’s on Offer
  • Competitive salary with a discretionary bonus tied to both personal and team performance
  • A progressive, collegiate culture where senior lawyers are empowered to lead
  • Clear pathway to further progression, with leadership and succession opportunities on the table
  • Opportunity to shape the future of a dynamic and growing team
  • If you're a senior Employment Solicitor looking to take the next meaningful step – in a firm that balances quality work with a standout culture – this is one not to overlook.
