Job Description

We're Norton Rose Fulbright - a global law firm with over 50 offices and 7,000 employees worldwide. We provide the world’s preeminent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service. At Norton Rose Fulbright, our strategy and our culture are closely entwined. We know that our expansion will mean little unless it is underpinned by truly global collaboration and we understand that pioneering work only takes place when our people have room to move and think beyond boundaries. As well as the relevant skills and experience, we're looking for people who are innovative, commercial and value the work that they do.

Our London office is currently looking for a Senior Associate to join our well-regarded Employment practice, dealing with cutting edge employment work across an international spectrum.

The Team

Our employment law team has experience in all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. Every lawyer has a broad spectrum of work and has had regular exposure to client issues ranging from sensitive severance issues and boardroom disputes through to issues of corporate governance and more standard disciplinary and grievance issues.

We have a diverse client base reflecting our appeal to a wide audience of in-house lawyers and HR managers, including senior executives, charities, world-wide financial institutions and large corporates.

The employment law team specialises in:

  • Employment law aspects of all corporate finance transactions including Transfer of Undertakings Redundancies and dismissals.
  • Service agreements, contracts of employment and staff handbooks.
  • Employment policies ranging from performance, sickness and misconduct procedures to maternity and parental leave schemes.
  • Boardroom disputes and severance claims.
  • Employment litigation in the high court, county court and employment tribunal.
  • International employment issues including dual contracts.
  • Collective issues such as trade union recognition and industrial action.
  • Executive remuneration and corporate governance.
  • Discrimination (including sex, race and disability).
  • General employment issues ranging from maternity rights to general contractual issues.
  • Business immigration

Key Skills and Experience

  • A good knowledge of the employment law and current developments is essential.
  • Experience of cross border transactions is also helpful, but not essential.
  • A willingness to take on a broad spectrum of employment work.
  • An understanding of immigration law would be helpful but is not a requirement.

Candidates should also:

  • Develop and apply technical knowledge and professional skills.
  • Focus on efficiency.
  • Develop our business/clients (maintain client relationships and deliver excellent service).
  • Work effectively with and through people.
  • Promote and demonstrate ‘good citizenship’ (values and strategic priorities).
