Job summary

Thomson Legal is working with a leading UK law firm to appoint an experienced Commercial Litigation/Dispute Resolution Lawyer in Edinburgh. You will lead high‑quality, independent matters, collaborating with Partners and the wider disputes team on complex cases.

The role involves strong Sheriff Court activity, advising on strategy and resolution, and mentoring junior lawyers within a fast‑growing Scottish practice backed by a major UK firm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PQE in commercial litigation or disputes.
• Strong Sheriff Court litigation experience.
• Ability to manage matters independently.
• Excellent technical, negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong client management abilities.
• Court of Session experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing complex and high‑value litigation.
• Appearing regularly in Sheriff Courts across Scotland.
• Preparing pleadings and managing court procedures.
• Advising clients on dispute strategy and resolution.
• Managing cases from initial instruction through to conclusion.

Thomson Legal is working with a leading UK law firm that is continuing to grow its dispute resolution offering in Scotland.

The firm is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Litigation/ Dispute Resolution Lawyer to join its expanding Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious litigator who wants to take on high-quality work, enjoy real autonomy and play an important role in the continued development of a growing Scottish practice.

The team acts for a broad client base ranging from major national and international businesses to entrepreneurial and owner-managed companies, advising on complex and high-value disputes across a variety of sectors.

Role Profile:

• Contractual and commercial claims
• Shareholder and corporate disputes
• Professional negligence
• Contentious debt recovery
• Regulatory matters
• Complex Sheriff Court and Court of Session litigation

You will have the opportunity to lead matters independently while working closely with experienced Partners and colleagues across the wider UK disputes practice.

The role will include:

Candidate Requirements:

• Strong client management skills
• Court of Session experience would be advantageous
