Job Description:

Senior Associate / Director – Non-Contentious Construction

Edinburgh or Glasgow – Hybrid Working

Permanent, Full-Time

Experience – 6+ years PQE

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate or Director-level construction lawyer (6+ years' PQE) to join a leading UK law firm’s non-contentious construction team, working on landmark property development and energy infrastructure projects across the country.

This role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with a focus on high-value, technically complex advisory work. The successful candidate will bring deep sector knowledge and strong drafting and negotiation skills, along with the ability to supervise others and contribute to team strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on the construction aspects of major property developments and regeneration schemes
  • Drafting and negotiating building contracts, development agreements, consultant appointments, bonds and guarantees
  • Supporting the delivery of engineering and renewable energy projects (e.g. wind, hydro, solar, battery storage, tidal)
  • Acting for a diverse client base: developers, contractors, public bodies, funders, consultants
  • Leading on complex matters with minimal supervision, while providing mentoring and oversight to junior colleagues

What You’ll Bring:

  • At least 6 years' PQE in non-contentious construction law
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Strong client relationship-building abilities and a commercial approach
  • Proven capability to handle major transactions and coordinate multi-party projects
  • Experience or interest in business development, thought leadership, and training
