Job summary

HF, a leading healthcare law group, is seeking an experienced Senior Associate in Clinical Negligence to manage complex healthcare litigation for NHS and public/private healthcare providers. The role offers a hybrid working model with base locations in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Harrogate.

You will handle pre-action steps, draft reports, attend trials and ADR events, supervise junior colleagues, and contribute to client training and business development in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous healthcare litigation experience, ideally from another panel firm or medical defence insurer or indemnifier.
• Familiar with issues relevant to our clients within the healthcare sector.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Able to uphold strong confidentiality and ensure compliance with client requirements.
• Able to work to tight deadlines and targets.
• Flexible and willing to take on a varied workload.
• Able to work as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Pre-action investigation and drafting.
• Drafting of reports and advice to clients.
• Preparation and attendance of trials and ADR / settlement meetings / mediations.
• Interviewing witnesses and drafting of statements
• Cost management
• Multi-party litigation
• Negotiation of settlement
• Preparation and attendance at Court hearings including CCMCs and application hearings
• Supervision of other team members
• Client training and support activities including; presentations, seminars and webinars
• Supervision of a team
• Business development activities (appropriate to role)
