Overview of role

Join an employee-owned company focusing on projects that deliver social and environmental benefits, leveraging digital innovation and technical excellence. We seek Associate Civil Engineers with water/wastewater infrastructure experience to lead technical teams in the south and southwest UK, especially in pipelines.

In this role, you will:

1. Provide technical leadership on potable water and wastewater pipelines.
2. Supervise and develop design teams, offering technical and commercial guidance.
3. Manage delivery of pipeline programs to standards, collaborating across disciplines.
4. Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports, managing design risks.
5. Work closely with clients and contractors to deliver projects.
6. Represent the company in meetings, building client relationships.
7. Contribute to commercial success through forecasting, risk management, and bid/proposal development.

Candidate specification

Required skills and experience:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognized Professional Institution.
• Experience leading technical projects, ensuring quality and standards, and mentoring staff.
• Technical expertise in water pipeline and infrastructure design.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Commitment to professional development and knowledge of emerging solutions.
• Understanding of CDM responsibilities.

Desirable:

• Ability to travel.
• Experience building teams and developing junior staff.
• Experience in client engagement and bid preparation.
• Project management skills or interest in developing them.
