Senior / Associate Chartered Building Surveyor

Location: Reading (with work across Reading and surrounding areas)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Turner Property Recruitment have been instructed to recruit a Senior / Associate Chartered Building Surveyor for a respected multi-disciplinary consultancy with a growing team in Reading.

This is a busy, varied and technically engaging role, offering exposure to a wide range of projects—including insurance-focused work across residential and commercial buildings of all construction types. The position is ideal for an ambitious surveyor looking to step into a Senior or Associate-level role with clear progression and strong professional support.

About the Role

You will work closely with an experienced surveying team, taking responsibility for inspections, reporting, client advisory and managing projects from feasibility through to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, assess and advise on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all building types.
  • Undertake acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, schedules of work and specifications.
  • Design and manage works under recognised building contracts to current technical standards.
  • Deliver large-value projects independently, providing full professional consultancy services.
  • Apply and advise on relevant legislation including:
    • Building Regulations
    • CDM 2015
    • Party wall matters
    • Planning legislation
    • Health & safety requirements
  • Support business development and help promote the consultancy’s services.
  • Provide guidance, supervision and support to APC candidates.
  • Maintain compliance with internal procedures and health & safety standards.

About You
  • MRICS qualified (essential)
  • Strong technical knowledge across surveying, engineering, architectural and planning disciplines
  • Proven experience in defect diagnosis and technical reporting
  • Contract administration experience
  • Insurance repair project exposure (desirable but not essential)
  • Confident negotiator with leadership and supervisory capability
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage budgets on larger projects
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Methodical thinker with strong IT and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to workload and project type
