Senior Associate/Associate Director, Global Public Affairs (Energy, Financial Services, TMT), London

Based in beautiful offices overlooking the Thames in central London, FGS Global is a leading global strategic communications consultancy operating from 31 offices around the world.

We are looking for Senior Associates and Associate Directors to join our Global Public Affairs team to provide an exceptional service to our high-profile corporate and investor clients across sectors and a range of mandates including M&A, reputation-building and crisis.

We are specifically looking for great candidates to join our pan-European (UK and EU-focused) Energy, Financial Services and Technology, Media & Telecommunications teams (TMT), where you’ll work at the nexus of policy and business in both the UK and across Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis: deploying effective research techniques to offer relevant, practical and forward-looking written and oral insights for existing clients and in support of new business opportunities
  • Relationship building: identifying, mapping and building effective relationships with key policy, political, and regulatory stakeholders and clients
  • Policy depth: ensuring you remain at the forefront of your sector’s dynamic policy and regulatory agenda to inform both client advice and engagement strategies
  • Client account management: serve as a day-to-day contact on client and project accounts, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget
  • New business: helping identify potential clients across practice area and geographies as well as assisting with company specific research to support pitching and business development

Necessary attributes

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in government, parliament, international organisation, regulator, trade association, political party, policy-focused public affairs agency or strategic advisory firm
  • Demonstrable interest and experience advising clients on policy, politics and/or regulation related to the Energy, Financial Services or TMT sector
  • Deep knowledge of the UK or EU policy making process (ideally both)
  • Able to build strong relationships; potential to command the confidence of others internally & externally
  • Hard working, flexible, adaptable and proactive
  • Organised, efficient, takes ownership, trusted to deliver to deadline
  • Independent, clear and creative thinking, takes initiatives, goes beyond the expected, spots opportunities and innovates
  • Continually seeks to broaden knowledge and contact base through networking; shares expertise

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to provide crisp, clear, logical analysis in both written and oral forms, adaptable to different audiences
  • Willingness and desire to speak directly to policymakers/regulators and those around them, often on your own or with limited senior support

Our normal working hours are 8.30am to 6pm. This position may sometimes require working late nights and early mornings, but we do not have a culture of working unnecessary long hours.
