Job description

We are excited to offer this Assistant Psychologist post in the Northern Care Alliance, based at the Devonshire Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre, Stockport.

This is a full-time post for 12 months.

You will assist with assessments, formulations, and interventions for clients referred to the Devonshire Centre. You will also hold responsibilities for maintaining patient databases and assisting in audit and service evaluation.

We are keen to promote diversity in Clinical Psychology. If applicable, please include meaningful contextual information regarding your background, such as whether you received free school meals, family income support, refugee or care-leaver status, if you are a first-generation university attendee, your secondary school performance, or information on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD). This aligns with recommendations from the British Psychological Society (BPS).

This advert will close once sufficient applications are received.

  • The role involves working with patients with acquired brain injury and neurological events impacting mood, cognition, behavior, and social functioning. The successful applicant will work with patients experiencing high distress, significant cognitive difficulties, and those coping with challenging life and health events.

The post holder will be guided by a Consultant Psychologist and will have regular communication and joint sessions with them. There will be input from other MDT members (e.g., OT, Physio, SLT). Opportunities for group work and family support are also available. Enthusiasm, reflective skills, and excellent communication skills are essential.

Upon completion, we hope you will be well-positioned to apply for further Assistant Psychologist or equivalent roles, continuing to develop your knowledge and experience, and eventually applying for clinical training.
