Job description

Go back Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust

Senior Assistant Psychologist: MND and NEAD

The closing date is 04 August 2025

This is a unique opportunity to work into two service areas within the department of neuropsychology in Northern Care Alliance. 3 days a week will be focused on MND psychological care pathways, working across Greater Manchester with other professionals on the project. This is mainly service development and research-related activity.

The NEAD service at Salford Royal provides a fantastic opportunity for group work and patient contacts. This makes up 1.5 days a week of this role.

Main duties of the job

There are two components to this job role, with 3 days a week focused on working to understand and develop psychological pathways for people with MND, their family/caregivers and healthcare professionals. This will require fairly autonomous, focused work alongside a project facilitator and a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist. Ideally we are looking for someone with research experience and a passion for understanding about MND. One afternoon a week will be in the MND clinic at Salford Royal but we are moving into the stage of the project where the candidate will need to attend people's homes for interviews and will be required to collate and present information effectively.

The NEAD service provides psychological support for those who have NEAD and this role will likely involve triage calls and supporting to deliver a psychoeducation group. The candidate will be providing support to the other members of the NEAD service to ensure good quality patient care. Both aspects of the role require excellent database skills.
