Job description

An opportunity has arisen within MK Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway for a Senior Assistant Psychologist to join this busy and well-established pathway. The position will suit an individual who is self-motivated, an excellent communicator, data competent, and passionate about supporting services for adults with complex mental health presentations.

You will be a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team, working alongside qualified and experienced Psychologists and other team members to assist with service improvement and psychoeducational groups.

Applicants should hold a BPS approved degree in Psychology (upper second or first class) and have current experience working in a secondary care mental health community setting as a paid Assistant Psychologist. Experience working with individuals with complex mental health issues and in therapeutic groups within secondary care is essential. The candidate should be highly motivated, quick to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers valuable experience for future Clinical and Counselling Psychology training. The department has strong links with the Oxford Doctoral Course and offers placements across core disciplines.

MK Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway provides services for individuals with diagnoses such as Complex Trauma, Personality Disorder, and Mood and Anxiety Disorders, delivering evidence-based interventions as per NICE guidelines.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust, vaccination is encouraged to protect staff, colleagues, and patients.

The primary role is to support the psychological care of service users within the Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway, working with the MDT to deliver evidence-based interventions under supervision, and independently within a planned framework.

You will also assist with administrative tasks, conduct audits, collect outcome measures, and contribute to research and project work.
