Job summary

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to join our Complex Needs Team in East Sussex. The role involves delivering therapy interventions devised by a therapist, within settings such as schools and homes, and supporting equipment assessments for children and families.

You will modify interventions to meet individual needs, deliver parent and practitioner training, and administer assessments with supervision from a therapist.

Responsibilities

• To implement therapy intervention and programmes devised by a therapist for groups and/or individuals in a range of settings (e.g. schools, preschool).
• To modify interventions to meet the needs of individual children and families.
• To deliver standardised training packages to parents/carers and other practitioners.
• To administer and score formal and informal assessments with support of a therapist.
• To carry out assessment of basic equipment in the child's home (e.g. bath board, rails, toilet frame).
• To carry out equipment checks and minor adjustments in a range of settings.
• To independently provide written and oral advice regarding children's progress following intervention.
• To engage in first line problem solving with families/carers.

Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing and AHP vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses/AHPs. The NHS is changing. To work independently as an Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant (ITA) within the Complex Needs Team, with an emphasis on supportingequipment/adaptations OT, within the team under the guidance of, but not under the direct supervision of a therapist. Will include housing needsassessments. Community working across East Sussex with hybrid-working., 1.
