Divisional Manager - Legal Finance & Accounting

Ambition are supporting a global law firm with their recruitment for a Senior Assistant Accountant, to join their dynamic finance team in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional ideally with experience in professional services to contribute to strategic financial initiatives and support operational budget controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead preparation and review of period-end management accounts, including complex journal entries.
  • Deliver monthly budget variance analysis and liaise with budget holders.
  • Provide financial insights and support to project leads and stakeholders.
  • Oversee VAT returns and cashflow forecasting.
  • Maintain balance sheet controls and perform reconciliations.
  • Prepare interest on capital schedules and coordinate budgeting/reforecasting processes.
  • Support quarterly and annual ONS surveys and assist with audit documentation.
  • Mentor junior team members and uphold financial compliance standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Strong grasp of financial controls, reporting standards and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Actively studying or qualified with AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • A proactive, collaborative team player with a problem-solving mindset.
