Senior Asset Manager
London
Currys London Campus at Waterloo / Hybrid Working
Fixed Term Contract for 6 months
Full Time
Grade 5

At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology.

As the UK’s best-known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.

We’re looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to support our Property Director on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract in managing our diverse Retail Property Estate across the UK and Republic of Ireland. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of retail estate management—including rent reviews, lease renewals, and general estate operations—while ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. You’ll be responsible for managing property costs of approximately £80 million annually across a portfolio of around 150 retail stores, spanning a variety of formats and locations.

Role overview:

As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and collaborating with a team of external consultants—including agents, solicitors, and surveyors—to deliver seamless property transactions and estate management across our retail portfolio.
  • Driving estate strategy through lease renewals, sublets, and re-gears, ensuring every decision adds value and aligns with business goals.
  • Preparing and presenting compelling board reports to gain approval for key property proposals and initiatives.
  • Managing and minimising occupational property costs, overseeing rent reviews and lease renewals to support our £80m annual property budget.
  • Ensuring all property commitments are strategically managed to optimise profitability, reduce risk, and support the delivery of our long-term property plan.
  • Acting as a trusted property partner across the business—supporting retail, finance, store construction, and other teams with expert advice, dispute resolution, and operational property management.
  • Safeguarding our stores’ ability to trade without disruption by proactively managing consents and compliance.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the property database to deliver accurate commercial reporting, forecasting, and insights on costs, liabilities, and new site opportunities.

You will need:

  • Proven experience in a property role—ideally within an in-house team for a national multi-site retailer with a varied estate of store formats and property types.
  • Strong financial acumen, with confidence in budgeting, forecasting, and cost provisioning.
  • To be skilled in negotiating legal property contracts, including leases, licences, and related agreements.
  • Hands-on experience managing rent reviews and lease renewals, working directly with landlords and agents to secure the best outcomes.
  • To be a practical problem-solver with a track record of resolving estate management issues that impact store operations and trading.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams.

We know our people are the secret to our success. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to reward great work. You’ll find a host of benefits designed to work for you, including:

  • Hybrid Working (with an expectation to meet in person 2-4 times per month)
  • Product discounts on the latest tech
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives
