The Role

Senior Asset Management Equity Trade Support (to become their “Equity Operations Manager”) – City of London

This is an excellent and unique opportunity for a strong graduate-calibre “Buyside senior Equity Trade Support Analyst” who is looking to advance to become an “Asset Management Equity Operations Manager.”

Martis Search is representing a boutique City of London-based and successful Equity Long-focused Institutional Asset Management company to hire a permanent “Senior Asset Management Equity Trade Support Analyst” with the potential to be offered an “Equity Operations Manager” role from the start or to grow into it after approximately 6 months.

The company invests in Equity Long Trading strategies, and the role is based on their Trading Floor next to the Front Office Investment team (CEO, Fund Managers, Investment Research Analysts, and Sales & Marketing teams).

The company is very stable, experiencing growth, with a proven YoY track record and impressive AUM.

The Equity Operations team is small, and the role reports to the COO.

The selected candidate will be responsible for either:

  1. Managing the small Equity Operations/ Equity Trade Support team from the outset,

OR

  1. Learning the Equity Operations/ Equity Trade Support role for up to 6 months, with the aim to become their “Asset Management Equity Operations Manager.”

OR

  1. Currently an “Asset Management Equity Operations Manager” supervising a small team and seeking a new role for better compensation, learning opportunities, or due to fund performance issues.

Due to the firm's size, the role will be both hands-on and strategic, involving daily trade support duties as well as managing workflows, external system providers, custodians, and administrators.

You will also work closely with the COO on Operations projects, including writing technical change documents for IT departments to implement new processes.

Our client prefers candidates with a Degree (ideally 2:1, but 2:2 considered) in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, etc.

You must have at least 3 years of Asset Management or Hedge Fund experience in Equity Trade Support. The asset classes traded include global Cash Equities, Futures & Options, and FX.

Your responsibilities will include:

Daily BAU tasks include:

  • Managing all Equity Trade Support & Operations in collaboration with Fund Managers.
  • Managing the Equity Operations team, including appraisals, targets, and deliverables with the COO.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Prime Brokers, custodians, and Fund Administrators.
  • Performing daily cash and position reconciliations.
  • Handling margin calls, returns, and collateral management.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly valuations and NAVs with Administrators.

Salary

£70,000 to £83,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus bonus, shares, pension, healthcare, and other benefits such as cycle-to-work schemes and electric car contributions.
