Job summary

Anglian Water is seeking an experienced analyst to stay hands-on while acting as a technical specialist in Strategic Asset Management, developing predictive analytics and ML solutions to guide investment and asset management decisions.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and business stakeholders to turn data into actionable insights that deliver value for customers and the environment, with opportunities to work on Azure and Databricks in desirable projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in data science, statistics or ML.
• Strong SQL and Python/R skills with experience in analytics projects.
• Experience delivering analytics products that drive business value.
• Experience using Power BI or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced analytics and dashboards to support decision‑making.
• Build predictive models and forecasting for asset management.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and analytical workflows.
• Explain findings with clear storytelling to technical and non‑technical audiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst who wants to remain hands‑on with advanced analytics while operating as a recognised technical specialist. You’ll play a key role in developing predictive analytics and machine learning solutions that influence how we invest in and manage critical water and water recycling assets.

Working within our growing Asset Analytics function, you’ll collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and business stakeholders to solve complex real-world challenges, turning data into actionable insight that delivers value for customers, communities and the environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver advanced analytics, dashboards and insight products that support strategic and operational decision‑making.
• Apply statistical analysis, predictive analytics and machine learning techniques to complex asset management challenges.
• Develop forecasting, regression and classification models that improve performance and support investment planning.
• Build repeatable, scalable data pipelines and analytical workflows to improve efficiency and insight delivery.
• Use storytelling and visualisation techniques to translate complex findings into clear recommendations for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Work alongside Data Scientists and Data Engineers to develop and scale innovative analytical solutions.
• Identify opportunities to apply analytics, predictive modelling and AI‑enabled approaches to business problems.
• Work with innovation programs to leverage AI and other emerging technologies.

What we’re looking for:

Technical Experience

• Degree qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced SQL and Python and/or R skills.
• Experience delivering complex analytics and insight products that drive business value. Strong understanding of statistical analysis, predictive analytics and machine learning techniques.
• Experience using Power BI or equivalent data visualisation tools.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, data structures and working with complex datasets.
