Job description

Senior Assay Scientist – Biotechnology

Newton Colmore has partnered with an exciting start-up in Birmingham that is looking for a Senior Assay Development Scientist to join their emerging team.

In this role, reporting directly to the Head of R&D, you will be part of the scientific R&D team, focusing on the development and evaluation of rapid in vitro diagnostics tools as the company progresses through development and transfer to manufacturing activities.

You will work across standard and next-generation technologies, collaborating with other science and engineering teams to support assay and device integration activities and generate performance evaluation data. Your responsibilities will include experimental planning, system improvement, product development, and providing support and advice to fellow scientists and engineers.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  1. Hands-on experience in the in vitro diagnostics field.
  2. Ideally, a PhD qualification; candidates with a Master’s degree will also be considered.
  3. Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including RT and qRT-PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and quantification.
