Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust seeks a motivated Pharmacy Assistant to join the Cancer Services team. You will assist with dispensing and aseptic preparation of chemotherapy medicines, supporting ward and clinic needs across the Trust.

You will train and mentor colleagues, ensure compliance with policies, and work under Senior Pharmacy Technicians in Cancer and Aseptic Services. Cross-site duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of aseptic and pharmacy policies including quality management systems.
• Experience supervising less experienced staff to deliver aseptic services.
• Ability to multitask and work to deadlines under pressure.
• Clear verbal and written communication; accurate record keeping.
• Awareness of COSHH and Health & Safety in aseptic services.
• Ability to train, lead and motivate a team.
• Willing to undertake appropriate training and remain flexible.
• Must be able to undertake manual handling duties.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day running of the aseptic area to ensure safe, efficient preparation.
• Set up and organise aseptic facilities and perform routine cleans.
• Prepare cytotoxic and monoclonal antibody products under aseptic conditions.
• Monitor dispensing processes and provide in‑process checks.
• Support Lead Technician with line management of assistants in aseptics.
• Provide training and mentoring to team members.
• Undertake ACT of pre‑filled medication after competency training.
• Carry out pre‑process checks and maintain cross‑site service as required.
