Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our expanding Architectural team. You will transform preliminary designs into buildable solutions, coordinating across disciplines and acting as the first contact for the site delivery team.

You will lead design delivery, manage design teams, handle procurement and programming in line with deliverables, and respond to technical queries while reporting progress to the Project Leader monthly.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant technical design guidance.
• Familiarity with BIM Level 2 delivery and coordination.
• Eligible for UK Security Check (SC) and professional registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design support to project teams delivering in line with client requirements.
• Lead the design team and coordinate with Client and Contractor liaison.
• Supervise technical project teams and coordinate with Design Teams and sub‑contractors.
• Organise and coordinate Design Teams and sub‑contractors.
• Support site delivery, review progress, and report status to Project Leader.

A little more about your role…

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Architectural Technologist to become part of our expanding Architectural team in our Birmingham office.

You will be required to realize preliminary designs into a buildable solution involving all aspects of Architectural delivery and coordinating detailed information across all disciplines and providing a first point of contact to the site delivery team. There will also be a requirement to address package procurement and programming in accordance with design deliverables, responding to technical queries, review sub-contractor information, attend and lead Design Team and Coordination Meetings, support the Contractor during the build and to liaise with management on a monthly basis reporting on the status of the project.

What you’ll be doing:

• To be capable of providing technical design support to project teams and be able to deliver successful projects in accordance with client requirements.
• Undertake the role of team leader, working flexibly and independently where required in support of the project leader while being efficient in managing one’s own time.
• Capable of managing and supervising technical project teams, together with Client and Contractor liaison.
• Ability to organize and co-ordinate Design Teams and sub – contractors.
• Ability to undertake tasks required on the day-to-day delivery requirements of projects at all stages, including production of design deliverables, providing accurate technical information, addressing technical queries, Site Inspections, condition surveys, monitoring delivery; identifying proposed design change which could impact on fees, change controls, slippage of program to Project Leader, etc.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

• HNC/HND in Architecture/Building Construction or BSc in Architectural Technology or other recognized approved equivalents.
• Eligible member of an appropriate professional institution (MCIAT or recognized approved equivalent).
• Understanding of Building Regulations and relevant Technical design guidance.
• REVIT and Navisworks to achieve project delivery to Level 2 BIM(Building Information Modelling).
• Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)
