Job summary

Baily Garner LLP is seeking a Senior Architectural Technician for our Northern Architectural team, with a focus on delivering a range of projects in a creative, multi-disciplinary environment. You will work on 2D and 3D designs, manage planning and building regulation submissions, and coordinate with other disciplines.

The role emphasizes collaboration, client liaison, and delivering high-quality documentation across RIBA stages.

Qualifications

• CIAT accredited course or equivalent completed.
• Chartered Architectural Technician (CIAT) or equivalent is advantageous.
• Post-qualification experience delivering projects through RIBA stages.

Responsibilities

• Support studio development through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Lead design team meetings and communicate with clients and consultants.
• Define briefs, sustainability, quality, cost and programme targets; advise on appointments.
• Undertake site visits, surveys and analysis.
• Develop 2D and 3D concept designs, specifications, reports and presentations.
• Coordinate architectural designs with other disciplines.
• Manage planning applications and listed building consent where required.
• Lead building regulations submissions and liaise with building control.
• Support procurement and tendering processes, including reviewing contractor proposals.
• Produce co-ordinated 2D/3D drawings, schedules and specifications; review contractor information.
• Manage planning conditions and building control requirements with consultant input.
• Inspect works and identify defects and non-compliance.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Architectural Technician to join our Northern Architectural team. You will work on an exciting range of projects within a creative multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support studio development through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Lead design team meetings as required and communicate clearly with clients and consultants.
• Define client briefs, sustainability, quality, cost and programme targets; advise on consultant appointments.
• Undertake site visits and analysis, and arrange surveys as required.
• Develop 2D and 3D concept designs, specifications, stage reports and presentations.
• Co-ordinate architectural designs with other disciplines.
• Manage planning applications, pre-application advice and listed building consent where required.
• Lead building regulations submissions and liaise with building control.
• Support procurement and tendering, including reviewing contractor proposals and attending interviews.
• Produce co-ordinated 2D and 3D tender and construction drawings, schedules and specifications; review contractor and supplier information.
• Manage planning condition discharge and building control requirements with consultant input.
• Inspect works as required and help identify defects and non-compliance with the contract.
• Prepare as-built information and handover documentation.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Completed a CIAT accredited course or similar e.g. HND Architectural Technology or City & Guilds Certificate in Computer Aided Design
• Chartered Architectural Technician (CIAT accredited) or equivalent is an advantage
• Post qualification experience delivering projects through various RIBA stages
• Fully competent in AutoCAD and Revit
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and current planning policies and legislation.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience working on UK projects ideally within a BIM environment.
• Experience leading projects and teams.
• Collaborative approach both internally and externally
• Knowledge of fire remediation
• High level of competence in client interface
• Excellent design, technical and presentation skills and able to work within the project brief in terms of balancing quality, time and budget.
• Exceptional communication and organisational skills.
