Job description

Senior Architectural Technician

Introduction

A leading regional housebuilder is looking to hire an experienced Senior Architectural Technician to join their West Yorkshire team in Leeds.

In this role, you will report to the Technical Director and take charge of the technical department, overseeing all technical aspects, including technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. You will ensure compliance with building regulations and quality standards. Additionally, you will liaise with consultants, contractors, and building control, while also contributing to the development of standard house types and specifications.

The role of a Senior Architectural Technician

  • Actively participating in land bidding and strategic land initiatives from the outset to provide valuable design, technical, and planning insights. Generate constraints information to guide designs and produce layout and detailed designs as necessary to support land valuation and the bidding process.
  • Creating and revising site layouts, planning drawings for house types, and various other design documents.
  • Collaborating with planning authorities and other stakeholders on planning-related issues related to past, ongoing, and upcoming planning applications.
  • Preparing, submitting, and managing planning applications, whether developed internally or by external consultants. This includes outline, full, and reserved matters applications, as well as the submission of required information for discharging planning conditions.
  • Coordinating the generation of construction information and overseeing the submission and management of building regulations applications.
  • Distributing construction information to the site as needed.
  • Overseeing project management on-site by addressing queries, attending site meetings, and liaising as necessary.
  • Creating contract, legal, and conveyancing drawings while coordinating the legal setup for the site.
  • Addressing post-completion matters, including liaising with management companies, providing technical support for customer care issues, and dealing with covenant and legal concerns on completed sites.
  • Involved in the supervision, management, development, and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Coordinating with other relevant disciplines as required, such as ecological, archaeological, and noise surveys.
  • Occasionally attending out-of-hours commitments related to the job, including Parish Council meetings and public exhibitions for planning applications.
