Job summary

A leading architectural consultancy in Glasgow is seeking a Technical Designer to lead the development of technical design information. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of post-qualification experience and a degree in Architectural Technology. Qualifications

  • Must be confident delivering detailed design information to a high standard.

  • Lead the development of technical design information across RIBA Stages.
  • Prepare accurate working drawings and schedules using Revit and NBS Chorus.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act 2022.

Job description
Overview

You'll be joining a creative and forward-thinking team where ideas are valued, systems are robust, and professional development is genuinely supported. The role offers strong exposure to live projects and the chance to contribute to the ongoing evolution of technical design standards across the studio.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the development of technical design information across RIBA Stages

  • Preparing accurate working drawings, schedules and specifications using Revit and NBS Chorus

  • Ensuring compliance with Building Regs, CDM 2015, British Standards and - where applicable - the Building Safety Act 2022

  • Supporting the coordination of design information across teams and consultants

  • Researching construction methods, materials, and technical solutions appropriate to each project

  • Contributing to technical excellence and mentoring junior team members

Qualifications
  • Has a degree in Architectural Technology (or equivalent qualification)

  • Brings 4+ years' post-qualification experience in a UK practice

  • Has experience across a range of sectors and RIBA work stages

  • Is confident delivering detailed design information to a high standard

  • Has working knowledge of Revit, NBS Chorus, and current BIM standards

  • Can communicate clearly with both clients and design teams

  • Is organised, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative studio culture
