Job description

Why this role?

Our architects specialise in highly regulated and complex project delivery. They take the time to understand a client’s process flows and unique hurdles of each environment. This creates highly efficient workflows with user safety and wellbeing at their core.

Thanks to years of technical expertise in delivering science and technology facilities, we understand the changing nature of scientific discovery and design for future flexibility from day one, so the assets meet the changing needs of users.

Our Manchester office is looking to grow their team with a Senior Architect – Life Sciences.

About You

As Senior Architect – Life Sciences, you will have experience in delivering projects from concept to detailed design in the life science sector, including laboratories and GMP manufacturing facilities. You will be part of an enthusiastic and committed team of Architects and Technicians dedicated to delivering high-quality output.

To succeed, you should exhibit high levels of creativity, imagination, vision, and enthusiasm to produce distinctive architectural solutions, along with a good knowledge of technical details and specifications.

Key Purpose

At BakerHicks, we provide the industry’s most creative minds the space to consider, collaborate, innovate, and develop advanced technologies and processes. We work on large-scale discovery and R&D facilities supporting the science community, health services, pharmaceutical, bioscience, and other industries, as well as laboratory refurbishments across the UK and Europe. Our goal is to make the world a better place, one project at a time.

  • Design and specify all aspects of architecture according to current guidelines, standards, regulations, and project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of our Early Careers population and improve departmental capabilities.
  • Manage architectural involvement in multidisciplinary projects, including time, cost, quality, client relationship management, and delivery.
  • Champion quality and compliance controls within local teams and projects.

Each project is different. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures schemes are compliant, safe, and adaptable for reconfiguration and expansion as markets evolve.

Many positions require security clearance. The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain the necessary security clearance as required by our clients and sectors.
