A leading engineering and architectural consultancy is currently seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Architect or Associate to lead projects within their growing data centres team. Overview of the Role

The Senior Architect or Associate will take the lead on significant data centre projects, acting as a key contact for clients while guiding internal teams through design and delivery. The role requires someone confident in managing complex architectural challenges, skilled in technical resolution, and comfortable contributing to business development and practice-wide strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination of architectural and consultant construction packages, ensuring project efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop innovative, functional design responses aligned with client and project goals
  • Oversee the production of high-quality construction documentation in line with current regulations
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, resourcing and deliverables
  • Confidently present design proposals and technical solutions to clients and stakeholders
  • Mentor and support junior architects, fostering skill development and design excellence
  • Act as a design and technical authority, promoting best practice throughout the studio
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants to ensure cohesive delivery
  • Stay up to date with legislation, technical trends and emerging construction technologies
  • Represent the practice at industry events and forums
  • Lead client relationships from concept through to completion, ensuring satisfaction and retention
  • Support recruitment efforts and practice-wide resourcing strategy

Qualifications & Experience

  • ARB-registered architect, ideally a Chartered Member of the RIBA
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience within a design-led studio
  • Strong background in delivering large-scale, technically complex commercial projects
  • Confident across all RIBA work stages, with proven experience in leading project teams
  • Skilled in budget management, programming, and resourcing
  • Proficiency in Revit is essential; knowledge of other digital design tools is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of modern construction methods
  • Experience mentoring team members and leading design coordination
  • Strong communicator, with effective presentation and negotiation skills
  • Commercially aware with a proactive approach to client development
  • Adaptable and capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
