RPS is looking for an experienced consultant Arboriculturist to join our team of consultants in the Landscape Business Unit, which includes Arboriculturists and Landscape Architects. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will support the successful delivery of projects across various sectors throughout the UK.

What you’ll be doing

Our work means no two weeks are the same. You will split your time between desk work and site visits throughout the year. The projects are challenging and rewarding. Typical responsibilities include:

• Attending sites and conducting tree surveys in accordance with BS5837 and using tablet-based data capture software
• Writing and compiling tree-related reports, schedules, and plans, including Tree Surveys, Impact Assessments (AIA), and Method Statements (AMS)
• Preparing tree health and condition reports and providing expert advice
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, project teams, and clients to advise on tree-related matters, solving problems, and ensuring successful project outcomes

Who we’re looking for

You should be a qualified member of The Arboricultural Association and/or The Institute of Chartered Foresters, with the following preferred qualifications and skills:

• Level 4 Arboricultural qualification (or equivalent)
• Thorough understanding of BS5837:2012 ‘Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction – Recommendations’
• Excellent tree identification skills and knowledge of tree morphology and management
• Experience in conducting tree surveys and preparing reports, including Impact Assessments (AIA) and Method Statements (AMS)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, or similar tree-related software is advantageous
• Ability to work independently to deadlines and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and clients
• Experience giving evidence at Public Inquiries or Hearings is a plus but not essential
• Willingness to travel nationally for work
