RPS is looking for an experienced consultant Arboriculturist to join our team of consultants in the Landscape Business Unit, which includes Arboriculturists and Landscape Architects. You will support the successful delivery of projects across various sectors throughout the UK, working both independently and as part of a team.

What you’ll be doing

Your work will be diverse, involving desk work and site visits throughout the year. Typical responsibilities include:

  1. Attending sites and conducting tree surveys according to BS5837, using tablet-based data capture software.
  2. Writing and collating reports, schedules, and plans related to trees, including Tree Surveys, Impact Assessments (AIA), and Method Statements (AMS).
  3. Preparing reports on tree health and condition and providing expert advice.
  4. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients on tree-related issues to ensure project success.
Who we’re looking for

You should be a qualified member of The Arboricultural Association and/or The Institute of Chartered Foresters, with the following preferred qualifications and skills:

  • Level 4 Arboricultural qualification (or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of BS5837:2012 standards.
  • Strong skills in tree identification, morphology, and management.
  • Experience in conducting tree surveys and preparing related reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, or similar software is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently to deadlines and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Experience presenting evidence at Public Inquiries or Hearings is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required.
