Job summary

TEP - The Environment Partnership is seeking a Senior Arboricultural Consultant to lead complex arboricultural tasks and projects in the UK. You will manage programmes, budgets and QA, mentor colleagues and contribute to bids, while delivering high-quality outputs and sound client relations.

You will collaborate with ecology, landscape and planning teams to integrate arboriculture into wider environmental solutions and drive service development through knowledge sharing and coaching.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Arboriculture, Forestry or related discipline
• Professional membership or working towards with Arboricultural Association and/or Institute of Chartered Foresters
• Strong arboricultural knowledge including tree identification and management
• Knowledge of UK arboricultural legislation, standards and guidance
• Experience producing high quality reports and plans; MS Office and CAD/GIS familiarity helpful
• Experience liaising with clients and stakeholders; ability to lead projects
• Full driving licence and willing to travel to sites as required

Responsibilities

• Produce clear, well-structured reports and plans (constraints, impact and mitigation) using MS Office and CAD/GIS as needed.

• Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate arboriculture into broader environmental and planning solutions.
• Support business development activities, including fee proposals and submissions.
• Coach and review the work of others, sharing good practice and CPD insights.

In this senior role, you’ll take the lead on complex arboricultural tasks and projects, ensuring excellent technical quality, sound judgement, and a positive client experience. You’ll manage programmes, budgets, and quality assurance, and work closely with colleagues across ecology, landscape, planning and other disciplines to deliver joined-up outcomes. You’ll also help develop our services by sharing knowledge, supporting bids where appropriate, and mentoring others through coaching and constructive review.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Arboricultural Consultant, you’ll combine technical expertise with project leadership to deliver trusted advice and high-quality outputs.

• A degree (or equivalent) in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related discipline.
• Professional membership (or working towards) with the Arboricultural Association and/or Institute of Chartered Foresters.
• Strong arboricultural knowledge, including tree identification, physiology, inspection/assessment techniques and management.
• Good working knowledge of relevant UK arboricultural legislation, standards and best-practice guidance.
• Proven experience producing high-quality reports and plans; confidence with MS Office and familiarity with CAD/GIS is helpful.
• Experience liaising with clients and stakeholders, with the ability to lead projects and contribute to technical discussions.
• A full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
