Job summary

The American School in London is seeking an Accounts Receivable Controller to oversee tuition, transport, and ancillary fee billing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will manage data across school finance and student information systems and collaborate with Admissions and department admins to keep fee data up to date.

This role handles collections, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements, supporting audits and compliance with VAT, GDPR, AML.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in accounting/finance.
• Substantive experience in accounting, billing, or accounts receivable.
• Proficiency with finance systems such as Business Central, iSAMS, or Sage.
• Advanced Excel and data reconciliation skills.
• Strong financial controls and internal audit understanding.
• AML awareness and compliance responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end billing for tuition, transport, financial aid, and ancillary charges.
• Maintain accurate billing records in finance and SIS systems.
• Collaborate with Admissions and departments to update fee data.
• Generate invoices, ensure VAT compliance, and meet deadlines.
• Reconcile data between ledgers, bank accounts, and sub-ledgers.
• Prepare audit trails and support external audits.
• Identify automation opportunities and support digital transformation.
• Work with Finance Manager and Director to review overdue accounts.
• Train teams on billing processes and systems.
• Ensure data privacy and AML compliance.
