Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Aquatic Ecologist to join the Aquatic Ecology Team. This role can be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin or Belfast, working on baseline data collection, fish passage, habitat restoration and water quality investigations across major infrastructure projects.

You’ll lead and contribute to EcIA work, data analysis, and reporting, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams while mentoring junior ecologists.

Qualifications

• Understanding and applying industry standard monitoring techniques for aquatic ecology.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation relating to aquatic environments, including WFD.
• Experience with EcIA/EIA processes from baseline data to mitigation design.
• Experience with WFD compliance assessment and reporting.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide aquatic ecology input into EcIA, planning and multi-disciplinary projects.
• Author technical reports and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for input.
• Undertake data analysis and processing of ecological data.
• Produce EcIA documents in line with CIEEM guidelines.
• Manage aquatic ecology input into projects, including surveys and costing.
• Lead a team of aquatic ecologists across offices and laboratories nationwide.
• Support the wider environmental business.
