Job summary

Ocean Infinity, based in the United Kingdom, is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to support internal software in live production. You will work in a fast-growing marine tech environment, bridging development and operations, and contribute to reliability and incident resolution.

You will mentor junior team members, handle 2nd/3rd line escalations, and participate in 24x7 on-call support, while leveraging Linux, Docker, and modern web tech to keep systems running smoothly.

Qualifications

• 2nd/3rd line engineering experience with coaching and mentoring juniors.
• Experience supporting internal software in production environments and supporting development teams as developer, senior QA engineer, or DevOps.
• Proficiency with Linux-based environments, Docker, containerised applications, and shell scripting (PowerShell/Bash).
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React; Python and/or C#.
• Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana) to diagnose issues.
• Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Zendesk, ServiceDesk Plus).
• A can-do attitude and willingness to tackle out-of-scope tasks.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation in fast-paced environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication, translating requirements and presenting findings.
• Interest in others and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Provide up to 3rd line support resolving incidents with internal software.
• Offer structured feedback to development teams and drive improvements.
• Mentor generalist IT team members and contribute to reliability initiatives.
• Coordinate between development and support during frequent software releases.
• Manage tickets to meet response and resolution SLAs.
• Handle high-priority tickets from inception to resolution and incident management.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support.
