Job summary

DWP Digital are recruiting a Senior Application Operations Engineer to join the Central Payment System team. You will develop, maintain and optimise a highly customised Oracle E-Business Suite platform that handles payments and accounting for UK benefits services.

In this role you will collaborate with architects and engineers to design robust solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure secure, scalable enterprise applications while supporting live services and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Extensive Oracle EBS experience with GL, AP, Payments, SLA, and Cash Management.
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders to design, code, test, and document programs.
• Coordinate build activities and support testing (functional/integration/performance).
• Excellent problem solving with root-cause analysis on high-priority incidents.
• Robust Oracle EBS solutions with SQL/PLSQL, APIs, interfaces, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

• Demonstrable experience as an Oracle Developer with in-depth knowledge of E-Business Suite Financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payments, Sub-Ledger Accounting, and Cash Management.
• Extensive experience of collaborating with stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams to review requirements and use these along with agreed standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document programmes or scripts of medium to high complexity.
• Able to co-ordinate build activities and understands how to support testing activities, including functional, integration and performance.
• Excellent problem solving skills; able to quickly identify patterns across huge volumes of data to identify root cause analysis of high priority incidents/issues and propose appropriate resolution.
• Extensive experience delivering robust Oracle E-Business Suite solutions, including SQL/PLSQL development, OAF personalisation and extensions, Oracle Reports/XML Publisher, APIs, interfaces, web-service integrations, workflow configuration and performance tuning to support secure and scalable enterprise applications.

You'll be an Oracle Application Engineer supporting and enhancing the Central Payments System, a highly customised Oracle E-Business Suite application that helps deliver payments and accounting for UK benefit services.

In this role, you'll develop new functionality, maintain complex customisations and integrations, troubleshoot technical issues, and work closely with architects and engineers to improve service performance and resilience. Whether you're supporting live services, solving challenging problems or delivering high-quality solutions, you'll play a key part in keeping a business-critical platform running smoothly for millions of people.

Location:

You’ll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working:

We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay:

We offer competitive pay of up to £68,205.

Pension:

You’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays:

A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
