Job summary

DWP Digital is hiring a Senior Application Operations Engineer to join the Central Payment System team. You will maintain and extend a highly customised Oracle E-Business Suite platform that handles payments and accounting for UK benefit services.

You will develop new functionality, fix complex issues, and collaborate with architects and engineers to boost performance and resilience, ensuring live services run smoothly for millions of users.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Oracle Developer with EBS Financial modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payments, Sub-Ledger Accounting and Cash Management.
• Extensive collaboration with stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams to design, code, test, and document programmes of medium to high complexity.
• Proven ability to coordinate build activities and support testing (functional, integration and performance).
• Strong problem solving to identify root causes in large data sets and resolve incidents.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

• Demonstrable experience as an Oracle Developer with in-depth knowledge of E-Business Suite Financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payments, Sub-Ledger Accounting, and Cash Management.
• Extensive experience of collaborating with stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams to review requirements and use these along with agreed standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document programmes or scripts of medium to high complexity.
• Able to co-ordinate build activities and understands how to support testing activities, including functional, integration and performance.
• Excellent problem solving skills; able to quickly identify patterns across huge volumes of data to identify root cause analysis of high priority incidents/issues and propose appropriate resolution.
• Extensive experience delivering robust Oracle E-Business Suite solutions, including SQL/PLSQL development, OAF personalisation and extensions, Oracle Reports/XML Publisher, APIs, interfaces, web-service integrations, workflow configuration and performance tuning to support secure and scalable enterprise applications.

You'll be an Oracle Application Engineer supporting and enhancing the Central Payments System, a highly customised Oracle E-Business Suite application that helps deliver payments and accounting for UK benefit services.

In this role, you'll develop new functionality, maintain complex customisations and integrations, troubleshoot technical issues, and work closely with architects and engineers to improve service performance and resilience. Whether you're supporting live services, solving challenging problems or delivering high-quality solutions, you'll play a key part in keeping a business-critical platform running smoothly for millions of people.

Location:

You’ll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working:

We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay:

We offer competitive pay of up to £68,205.

Pension:

You’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays:

A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
