We are seeking an API Technical Writer who is passionate about making complex financial APIs accessible to developers and enterprise partners. As the API Technical Writer for Wise Platform, you will be responsible for our public developer documentation at https://docs.wise.com/, working closely with engineering and partnerships teams to enable seamless integrations.
Your mission is to translate complex API functionality into clear, actionable documentation that empowers developers to integrate successfully with our financial infrastructure. You will create step-by-step guides, code examples, and comprehensive references that serve everyone from individual developers to enterprise integration teams.
We are looking for someone with hands-on experience working with APIs—whether as a technical writer specialising in developer documentation or as an engineer transitioning into technical communication. You should understand the developer experience and be able to anticipate the questions and challenges that arise during API integration.
Interview subject matter experts across engineering, product, sales and delivery teams to learn about our customer types and how they integrate
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for our different API products
Develop guides that enable successful integrations from initial setup through production deployment
Support product launches with technical content including troubleshooting resources, and release notes
Establish and maintain documentation standards, style guides, and best practices and advocate for contributions to the API documentation across the business
Essential Experience
Experience writing technical documentation for APIs or developer tools
Hands-on background working with APIs (as technical writer, engineer, or developer)
Strong understanding of software integration processes and common developer pain points
Experience creating step-by-step tutorial-style learning materials for technical audiences
Technical Skills
Experience with Markdown and docs-as-code approaches
Familiarity with API documentation tooling
Strong knowledge of OpenAPI Specification (OAS) and authoring YAML
Understanding of standard software and integration terminology
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with enterprise software or B2B partnerships
Background in SaaS or fintech environments
Ability to create multimedia content (text, images, video) for complex technical concepts
Personal Attributes
Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently
Strong attention to detail and empathy for target audiences
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, actionable content
