Job summary

The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking an Anticoagulation Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead safe, evidence-based management of patients on anticoagulation therapy across inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will initiate and monitor warfarin and DOACs, provide complex case management, and work with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care, including escalation during high-risk scenarios.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse on NMC register.
• Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Mentorship or equivalent teaching experience.
• Non-Medical prescribing qualification.
• Minimum 3 years post-registration experience.
• Evidence of ongoing professional education in a specialist area.
• 1 year of management or leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Clinical reasoning and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure caring, empathetic patient interactions.
• Deputise for the Lead Anticoagulation Nurse at meetings and drive improvements in patient care.
• Provide leadership to the clinical team and develop specialist care protocols.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to audits and potential research.
• Manage initiation and monitoring of anticoagulation therapy and high-risk cases.
