Job summary

Guardian is seeking a Senior Android Developer to join the Apps Experience team. You will focus on Kotlin-based Android development, lead on projects, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver fast, reliable features for the Guardian app.

You’ll work 90%+ in Kotlin, with some Java as needed, in a collaborative culture. The role includes leadership responsibilities and opportunities to grow while contributing to a renowned media brand.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Android development and a strong interest in growing your skills.
• Strong competence in modern Android tools like Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, MVVM, Webviews, Jetpack libraries, and modular architectures.
• Experience with JVM unit testing, instrumented testing and UI regression testing.

Responsibilities

• Build and test major new features and improve existing functionality for the Guardian Android app.
• Lead on projects and guide others to grow.
• Collaborate with iOS, server-side, web engineers, designers, product managers, editorial and commercial teams.
