Job description

Senior and Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading energy and transformation engineering company is seeking a number of skilled professionals to lead mechanical design projects across data centers and other mission-critical environments.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key role in high-profile projects while growing your leadership and technical expertise.

The Role:

  • Leading mechanical design from bid to commissioning
  • Manage and mentor designers, reviewing and approving mechanical designs
  • Oversee coordination between mechanical, electrical, and construction teams at all project stages
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with RIBA, BSRIA BG6, and ISO 19650
  • Maintain an audit trail for design approvals and provide technical reports
  • Work with design & build contracts and engage with key stakeholders

About You:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering (BEng/MEng)
  • Proven expertise in mechanical services design for data centers and critical environments
  • Strong leadership skills, mentoring engineers and managing project risks
  • Experience across the full design lifecycle, from pre-construction to commissioning
  • Knowledge of sustainability & compliance (BREEAM, Part L), and mathematical modelling (CFD, FEA)
