Job Title: Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician

Band: Band 6

Start Date: 06/07/2024.

End Date: 06/10/2024.

Shift: Monday to Friday

Shift Times: 0800-1600

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Rate: £24 – £30

Location: Derbyshire

Description:

We are currently seeking a Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician to join our Cancer division at Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Royal Hospital. This role offers an opportunity for individuals with the relevant qualifications and experience to contribute to our pathology team.

responsibilities:

• Conduct complex dissections and autopsies under the guidance of pathologists.
• Prepare and process tissue specimens for analysis, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Provide support and guidance to junior staff members and pathology trainees.
• Maintain accurate records of specimens, tests, and procedures performed.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Requirements:

• RSPH Certificate (or level 3) and Diploma (or level 4) in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
• Experience working in a pathology laboratory setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, histology, and laboratory procedures.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
