Job summary

Wise is seeking a Lead Analyst to head the Growth analytics team in London. You’ll drive data-led decisions, build models, and partner with stakeholders to shape analysis and strategy.

The role demands a strong background in analytics, SQL, and statistical methods, with experience guiding others and delivering business impact. Based in London, you will influence growth strategies across Wise’s international operations, using data storytelling to translate complex insights into action.

Qualifications

  • 5–6 years experience as an analyst
  • 2–5 years leading others (overlap with above)
  • Strong analytical ability and statistical understanding
  • Proficient SQL with data storytelling
  • Experience with Python or R
  • Experience in data visualization and modelling

Responsibilities

  • Lead a Growth analytics team of analysts and influence directions
  • Curate datasets, surface metrics and perform statistical modelling
  • Act as conduit between analytics and stakeholders to shape requests
  • Build repeatable explanatory frameworks around growth performance
  • Collaborate with DS teams to model customer behaviour and performance
  • Partner with other analytics teams to align with global insights

Your Mission

We need timely, accurate and scalable financial data to make accurate business decisions inside the company.

Due to continued and rapid growth we are on the hunt for a Lead Analyst to lead our Growth analytics team in London. You’ll be part of the team that helps pilot the rocket ship.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Your principal responsibility will be to make an impact and lead us to better decisions for the company and our customers.
  • Leading a team of analysts responsible for curating datasets, surfacing metrics, statistical modelling, and deeper dive analysis, expected to influence the direction of the team and the company.
  • You will also be the conduit between the team and the company. You’ll be expected to help stakeholders shape and understand what they want and need, and help the team shape their work to fit that need.
  • The team you’re applying for will be focused on the following:
    • Analysing the causes of our growth (or lack thereof) and publicising those findings among key decision makers to inform a better company strategy.
    • Working with your team and stakeholders to build repeatable explanatory frameworks around our growth performance.
    • Working with our DS teams to build customer models to help simplify and enhance our understanding of our own performance.
    • Partnering with other analytics teams to inform their local efforts with our own global perspective.
    • Leading and managing a team of 3 analysts, expected to grow further.
Who You Are
  • 5-6 years experience as an analyst and 2-5 years leading others (can be overlapping).
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills.
  • Understanding of stats and statistical modelling (measures of central tendency, understanding of variance and testing, feature engineering, some regression modelling, clustering techniques).
  • 2-4 years experience in similar roles.
  • Data visualisation and storytelling ability.
  • Ability to self organise and manage stakeholders.
  • Demonstration of impact or going above and beyond basic role requirements.
  • Python or R.
  • Mathematical background.
Desirable
  • Dbt.
  • Data modelling in a warehouse context.
  • Understanding of testing and experimental design.
Background Checks

To meet our regulatory obligations as a licensed financial services company, Wise needs to conduct background checks on all new hires, which in the Finance team includes Criminal and Credit checks. Please discuss with the Recruiter if you have any concerns regarding this process.
