Job description

Role:

We are seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to work withing our Data Analytics division. The role will involve delivering reporting and analytics capabilities across all areas of the business. We have a fantastic team with experience in Power BI and Tabular models and we're looking for this role to supplement the team with knowledge of predictive analytics & AI. The role is business-facing, and the candidate will be responsible for supporting the planning and coordination of solution delivery to meet business needs. We have recently launched a new Data platform leveraging embedded Power BI capabilities and looking for a candidate with technical and business expertise to help build out the content in an AGILE delivery approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working with the business to understand information needs and agree the best way to provide this information through reporting solutions
• Developing reporting solutions using Power BI, SSAS (Tabular) models and predictive analytics tools.
• Providing technical guidance and support to the development team as a senior development lead on reporting and analytics solutions
• Supporting and enhancing our existing reports.
• Ensuring that new reporting solutions are tested and documented as required.
• Improving the performance of the model and implementing best practises.
• Keeping abreast of developments and trends in data and reporting technology, including supporting the implementation of AI technologies in 2025.
• Development of good internal client relationships
• Management of own task list and ensuring that plans are agreed

Skills & Experience:

• Strong knowledge of using predictive analytics for forecasting and ‘what-if’ scenarios
• Advanced SSAS (Tabular) data model development
• Strong Power BI (dashboard & paginated report) development
• Experience in leveraging AI tools to deliver business value through analytics or operational efficiency
• Comfortable coding with Python
• Strong DAX query authoring
• Ability to write and optimize T-SQL
• Insurance or other financial service experience beneficial as the role will involve working closely with business users across the organisation
• Experience of Databricks is beneficial
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and presentation skills and be an excellent cross-functional team player
• Candidate will be working with stakeholders at all levels of the business and all business functions, and therefore will need to have stakeholder management skills
