About the Role/ Department:

This role will sit in the newly formed Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Function (second line of Defense) reporting to the Risk Profile Reporting Director and will focus on supporting the function to drive consistent, quality reporting of the risk profile across legal entities, business units, and enterprise levels.

As a Senior Risk Profile Reporting Analyst, you will play a role in supporting to deliver Northern Trust’s risk profile reporting policy and processes, driving consistent and quality risk profile reporting across Northern Trust. You will work closely with your team to execute risk profile reporting requirements, and work to embed these across Northern Trust, working in a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Support maintenance of the policy and processes for risk profile reporting.
  • Reviews, disseminates, and interprets laws and regulations and works to proactively establish and document related policies, procedures and standards.
  • Verifies that activities meet federal, state and/or local legal and regulatory requirements and regulations and monitors outcomes/risk levels for the organization or assigned area.
  • Support the production, execution, and improvement of quarterly risk profile reporting.
  • Support the aggregation of risk profile data to deliver against risk profile reporting policy requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of automation, analytics,and continuous improvements of risk profile reporting processes.
  • Support management of key stakeholders to ensure effective co-ordination of risk profile reporting processes.
  • Consults with partners regarding more complex daily decisions that could pose risk and conflict with existing policy, and assist with client negotiations of new and existing business on various complex issues that may conflict with bank policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and provides risk avoidance advice and requirements to managers and appropriate personnel.
  • Identifies situations which pose significant risk and guides management in developing policies and/or procedures that minimize risk.
  • Interacts with regulators, internal and external auditors on regulatory topics.
  • Provides direction and training to more junior staff.
  • Serves on internal and external groups to provide and receive advice on industry trends.
  • May lead projects and/or assist and train more junior-level staff globally

Skills/ Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of risk management and strategic goals for the bank's business.
  • Experience in risk management lifecycle and reporting.

Robust background in enterprise risk management, including process, risk , control taxonomy & processess, at a large-scale financial services organization

  • Experience working with team members in a global setting and is more conversant with working with different time zones and regions
  • In depth knowledge of regulations, federal, state, and local laws and regulations acquired through formal education and work experience is required.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients and analyze information and apply regulations.
  • Experience with Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA) either as front or second line
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks and risk management methodologies.
  • Innovative thinking and adaptability to change.
  • Understanding of Technology and Digital capabilities, SDLC lifecycle and related enablement.
  • Organizational and communication skills required to co-ordinate risk-related activities with various stakeholders.
  • High-level of attention to detail.
  • Understanding of data analytics and related tools including Power BI.
  • Familiarity with GRC tools such as ServiceNow, RSArcher or other related
  • Several years of risk management or compliance experience.
