Applications are one of the core elements within our IT managed service and both application support and development teams provide support for large scale, local government corporate applications and smaller departmental systems. There is a wide variety of hardware platforms in use, although servers predominately fall into the on premise and cloud-based Windows category. The successful candidate would lead on the completion of development work within a managed project or assist with other initiatives undertaken by the application development and support team. Working closely with colleagues, third-party suppliers and business users, you will be responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the Council’s bespoke integrations and batch processes, web services and ‘in-house’ developed applications.
In addition to this, you will lead on the installation, testing and troubleshooting of third-party supplied application releases and hotfixes to windows middle-tier servers; including coordinating third-party supplier extranet web server updates. Your first project is to migrate existing bespoke processes from Oracle to SQL Server, developing a suite of SSIS packages to manage and automate file imports and exports to and from a third-party supplied (NEC) Revenues and Benefits system.
