Job Description

As a Senior Analyst of Competitive Intelligence on the Global Strategy team, you will work with senior leaders and product experts across the organization to assess developments in their competitive environments, thereby helping to accelerate our overall growth agenda. You will provide insight and expertise to help inform our strategic planning process – with emphasis on evaluating external market trends, macroeconomic factors, regulatory developments, and the competitive landscape. Your ability to thoroughly analyze competitors’ financial and economic models over time – clearly linking this to their overarching strategies and near-term tactical moves – is an essential complement to our businesses’ day-to-day understanding of their competitors’ market position.

Put simply, you will be a central contributor in a high-profile team that serves as Experian senior leadership’s trusted advisor on clarifying competitors’ evolving position within markets and the implications for our businesses.

The Senior Analyst of Competitive Intelligence must:

  • Develop competitive market intelligence and strategy materials for senior executive leadership.
  • Proactively review emerging trends in markets, case studies, and relevant topics.
  • Perform in-depth analyses (e.g., competitive landscape mapping, channel assessment, segmentation, financial performance) using multiple quantitative and qualitative methods to generate business insights.
  • Identify, gather, and assess key internal and external data to drive those analyses – leveraging and accessing research sources (internal and external to the firm).
  • Collaborate closely with global and regional stakeholders across Experian – business, product, sales, technology, finance, etc. – to get work done. Yet also produce high-quality work independently.
  • Publish weekly competitive and market event update newsletter (circulation c. 2,000 mid-level managers to senior executives) covering global markets for the Group.
  • Develop recommendations to support growth and business improvement that will have a significant impact on Experian’s top and bottom lines, long-term.
  • Contribute to annual strategic planning process and execution/implementation plans.
  • Begin to build long-term internal relationships and manage organizational stakeholders.
  • Possess personal presence, comfort, and confidence to appropriately engage with executives.
  • Engage and team with external consulting firms as and when needed.
Qualifications
  • Experience in Investment Banking (e.g., M&A, equities research), Financial Research, Financial Advisory, or Corporate Financial Planning experience is highly desired. Relevant experience in a comparable role (e.g., strategy consulting) is acceptable.
  • Experience / familiarity with analysis and modelling using financial statements (income statements, balance sheet, cash flow statements) and earnings releases for public companies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Energetic and decisive, with a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to multitask across several concurrent projects.
  • Comfort in and commitment to a strong teamwork environment. A relationship builder, who can establish trust and credibility across Experian.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as/if required (est. 10% or less).
