The role

The Senior Analyst Energy Technology Models & Markets plays a key role in the Energy Futures function, which develops the future energy scenarios for the North of Scotland in national and global contexts and provides critical input into SSEN Transmission's strategic planning, business plans and strategy development.

This role will report to our Lead Manager, Energy Technology Models and Markets sitting in the System Engineering & Investment team of the Network directorate.

You will
  • Monitor and assess policy, industry, technology, and market trends-nationally and globally-to identify impacts on SSEN Transmission and recommend strategic responses.
  • Collect and analyse data to understand behaviours and market dynamics across energy users, generators, and flexibility providers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of energy archetypes that reflect dynamic import/export profiles across technologies and consumer groups.
  • Evaluate interactions between energy technologies and the grid, contributing insights to system planning, investment, and strategic decision-making.
  • Communicate complex findings through high-quality reports and presentations, while building strong relationships with key external stakeholders including regulators, governments, and industry experts.
You have
  • Proven experience in energy technology, market analysis, business development or consulting, with the ability to conduct independent research and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of energy technologies, economics, policy frameworks, commercial models, and the GB energy networks and markets.
  • A disciplined, analytical mindset with confidence to engage across technical, financial and engineering domains, even outside your core expertise.
  • A track record of building effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders across public and private sectors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, combined with curiosity, numeracy, and a commitment to continuous learning.
