Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Principal Air Quality Consultant to join its Southampton team, working on major development projects and influencing planning decisions with practical air quality and climate change advice.

You will lead air quality work across development projects from early site acquisition through master-planning to planning, building strong client relationships and delivering clear, technical guidance within a collaborative, growth‑oriented consultancy.

Qualifications

• Professional experience within air quality and/or climate change consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of the UK property, planning and development sector.
• Strong technical and analytical capability.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Confidence working directly with clients and project teams.
• Proactive, collaborative approach and desire to contribute beyond projects.

Responsibilities

• Leading air quality and climate change work across development projects.
• Providing specialist input from early-stage site acquisition and master-planning through to planning.
• Developing strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Providing clear technical advice that informs development decisions.
• Supporting the delivery of high-quality consultancy projects.
• Sharing knowledge with colleagues and contributing to team growth.
• Contributing to the wider development and growth of the Southampton team.
