Job description

Senior AI Programme Manager - £800-£850 per day - Inside IR35 -Hybrid working from a site near Derby.

We are working with an exciting Small Modular Reactor (SMR) organisation that is going from strength to strength as it develops and delivers its next generation of technology, data and digital capabilities.

As part of this continued growth, we are looking for a Senior AI & Data Programme Manager to provide senior leadership across a portfolio of AI, data and digital initiatives.

This is a highly visible programme leadership role, working across the Digital, Data & AI Programme to coordinate delivery, establish effective governance and ensure multiple workstreams remain aligned to the organisations strategic objectives.

The Role -

You will provide overall programme orchestration across a number of AI, Data Analytics and Digital initiatives, working closely with senior business, technology, data and engineering stakeholders.

A key part of the role will be supporting the adoption and embedding of the organisations Digital Delivery Operating Model across the wider Digital, Data & AI Programme. You will bring strong Agile and digital delivery expertise, helping to establish consistent delivery practices, coordinate activity across workstreams and provide clear visibility of progress, dependencies, risks and outcomes.

Alongside the broader programme responsibilities, you will take direct project management responsibility for the delivery of an Agentic AI Engineering workflow tool - working with technical teams and stakeholders to take the initiative through delivery and towards adoption.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating a portfolio of AI, data and digital projects and workstreams.
• Providing programme-level orchestration across the Digital, Data & AI Programme.
• Driving the adoption and effective use of the Digital Delivery Operating Model across programme activity.
• Coordinating delivery across AI and Data Analytics workstreams, ensuring dependencies and priorities are effectively managed.
• Taking direct project management responsibility for the delivery of the Agentic AI Engineering workflow tool.
• Establishing and maintaining effective programme governance, reporting, RAID management and delivery controls.
• Working with Agile delivery teams to ensure effective planning, prioritisation and delivery.
• Managing programme dependencies, risks, issues, resources and interdependencies across multiple workstreams.
• Providing clear reporting and recommendations to senior leadership and programme governance forums.
• Working closely with Data, AI, Digital, IT and business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into deliverable programmes of work.
• Supporting the transition of AI initiatives from discovery and experimentation through to implementation and adoption.
• Ensuring data foundations, governance and architecture are appropriately considered within AI and analytics initiatives.
• Managing suppliers and third-party delivery partners where required.
• Tracking programme outcomes, benefits and delivery against agreed objectives.
• Helping to mature the organisations approach to AI, data and digital delivery as the programme develops.

About You -

We are looking for a senior Programme Manager who combines strong programme leadership with genuine experience across data, AI and digital delivery.

You will ideally bring:

• Significant experience leading complex AI, data, digital or technology programmes.
• Strong Agile and digital delivery experience, with a track record of operating across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Experience establishing or implementing delivery frameworks, operating models or consistent Agile delivery practices.
• A strong understanding of data delivery, including areas such as data platforms, data analytics, data engineering, data architecture or data governance.
• Practical understanding of AI technologies and the ability to work effectively with technical AI, data and engineering teams.
• Experience managing AI or data initiatives through discovery, development, implementation and adoption.
• Strong programme governance, risk, dependency, financial and delivery management experience.
• Excellent senior stakeholder management skills and the confidence to operate across both technical and business environments.
• The ability to bring structure, pace and clarity to complex and evolving programmes.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear information for senior stakeholders.
• Experience delivering technology products, platforms or tools would be highly beneficial, particularly within AI or engineering environments.

Experience within regulated, highly complex or technically sophisticated environments would be particularly valuable.
